Wiser and free

As water reflects the face, so ones life reflects his heart.

Proverbs 27:19

The wisdom of God ladies and gentleman. It is a treasure that once you find it, you could leap for joy and then your heart might combust like mine almost did. “Listening closely to wisdom and directing your heart to understanding; furthermore, if you call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it like hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.” (proverbs 2:2-5). Lord Jesus says in Matthew 7:7-8, one of my favourite Bible verses, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Again in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him.” In 1 Kings 3 when Solomon is being appointed King of the 12 tribes of Israel he says a prayer and makes a request from God that greatly pleases God.

1 Kings 3:7-10
"LORD my God, you have now made your servant king in my father David's place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership. Your servant is among your people you have chosen, a people too many to be numbered or counted. So give your servant a receptive heart to judge your people and discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of yours? Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had requested this. So God said to him, "Because you have requested this and did not ask for long life or riches for yourself, or the death of your enemies, but you asked for discernment for yourself to administer justice, I will therefore do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has never been anyone like you before and never will be again. In addition, I will give you what you did not ask for: both riches and honour, so that no king will be your equal during your entire life."

Who do you listen to? Whose instruction do you heed? Whose advice do you receive? People listen to successful people. The people who have the status, the money, the fame, the credentials. You listen to certain people because you trust them and you trust them because their lives reflect your own goals and values. ‘As water reflects the face, so ones life reflects the heart’. There is a level of knowledge and discernment that can only be gained through requesting it of God. If you long to know truth, you will not find it unless you seek God. Jesus claimed to be THE truth and He is the word made flesh. Therefore, the word of God is the truth. It’s up to you to decide if you believe that. I just want to ask you a question. What makes you so sure that what you perceive is the truth? How do you know that these people who you listen to and look up to can guide you? I’m going to repeat proverbs 27:19 again to you.

As water reflects the face, so ones life reflects the heart.

God claims to love you and care about you. He proved this in the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ that if you believe in Him in your heart and declare with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord, you will be saved and joined together with the Father again and the Holy Spirit will come to dwell within you giving you new, everlasting life and the complete absolution of your sin (Romans 10:9-10). He loves you and if you believe that then you may begin to trust Him. So if you believe in God and in His love that endures forever, will you allow Him to lead you into all truth and understanding?

Wisdom is so important. Without it we are easily deceived. I would like to ask you another question. Has there ever been a person you look up to, a friend, a celebrity, a parent, a social media influencer, that you have found out some things about that made you question their integrity? For example, they were hiding an addiction whilst giving people advice about being free of addiction? or there was a family channel you loved to watch for their representation of a healthy and loving family unit and you found out the husband or wife had been cheating all throughout their marriage? Perhaps you know what I’m talking about. Scandals happen all the time and you never know when something could come out about the person you believe in. This is why the Bible says “

Psalm 146:3-6
Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is in the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God. He is the maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them - He remains faithful forever."

Maybe you are lost and searching like everyone else. I love you and I’d like to help you narrow down your search so you can get to the truth sooner rather than later. Most people spend their whole lives searching and struggling with the existential questions of life. God had mercy on me and cut my search short by presenting Himself to me in my room at 16 years old when I was ready to take my own life. He showed me who He was and gave me wisdom well beyond any human logic or reasoning I could have derived from the countless self help and spirituality and psychology books I read. His word has proven true from generation to generation. He has proven Himself faithful from generation to generation.

I’d like to point out one last thing. I know when you’re absorbing the content of all the people who promote their lives online that you are searching for a way to replicate them. Can I give you some peace of mind through a rather sad truth? Their lives are not a reflection of a content heart but much rather a heart that is lost and a vessel that is empty. This is wisdom that has been revealed to me through the Holy Spirit and is easily proven if you ask God for eyes to see. It is what the Bible calls discernment and I pray that God would give you eyes to see and a discerning spirit so that you will no longer be led astray by futile missions set as a trap to capture and enslave lost and wandering people. It isn’t just the youth who are ensnared by the deceptive charm of worldly success, but it is people of all ages. God loves us too much to see us chasing our tails all of our days on earth. If you are reading this I am blessed to be able to share the treasure of wisdom God has given me. Thank you for letting me share this with you and I hope through this blog you will come into all truth and the knowledge of God and that it will set you free. I’ll leave below my favourite verse to quote from the Bible… can you guess what it is? haha.

“Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:32

God bless you and keep you in Jesus’ wonderful name, Amen.
