God delights over you
“Always remember you matter, you’re important and you are loved, and you bring to this world things no one else can.” Here’s a new perspective for a change, maybe you are loved unconditionally? Yes, God loves you. That is your invitation to love yourself. “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty saviour. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” God sees you. One of His names in the Bible is ‘El-roi” which means ‘the God who sees me’. When God looks at you his heart is delighted in you.
delight: please someone greatly. (captivate, excite, amuse)
I like those synonyms because it reminds me of when I look at my little kitten while she’s watching the birds and chirping. I look at her and my heart delights in her. She makes me giggle because of just how cute she is and she isn’t even trying. If you realised who could see you all this time and what He has to say about you, you might just realise you are wonderful.
El-roi can see you. Every moment. Even in your bad moments, He loves you with the deepest affection and never holds it against you. “Humans do not see what the Lord sees, for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.”
“I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind”
The Bible says we have all fallen short in Gods eyes and yet God loved us so much He came down as a man and made himself the object of His own wrath in order to spare us justly. He does not hold your wrongs against you because He loves you and love keeps no record of wrongs. God actually does not want your moral excellence, He wants your heart. The point of moral excellence was to draw us nearer to God but now we have been perfected once and for all time by the blood of Jesus, He is nearer to you than your own soul.
God delights over you. He designed you and He is well pleased with what He created. You are wonderful. You are the handiwork of the God of the heavens and the earth and He truly is captivated by you.
I pray in Jesus name that you would come to know Gods deep affection for you and devotion to you and that you would be set free of shame and guilt. I pray that you would come to know the truth and it would set you free (John 8:32). I pray that your doubts and worries that you are unloved would be silenced by the truth that is Gods love for you. Even when you don’t see it, God is working things together for your good. Don’t be discouraged, there is so much good God has for you… get excited.
